Mandala Art Therpay & The Healing Powers of Sacred Geometry
WHAT IS MANDALA ART THERAPY?
A form of psychotherapy, mandala art therapy is where a professional therapist will guide someone through a series of artistic processes that involve geometric patterns. The goal is to return to a sense of well being and a healthy mental balance. For example, art therapy is used to help treat grief, anger management, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and more.
Art therapists make great use of the mandala within sessions. A powerful practice is allowing the person to create a mandala artwork that best represents their feelings at the time of the session. Some people find this practice to be very healing and revitalizing. Many practitioners will go as far as suggesting that the artist keeps a mandala journal to monitor their progress and emotional well being over a certain period of time.
WHAT IS MANDALA ART?
MANDALA ART - "GREAT CENTRAL SUN"
Mandala art that utilizes sacred geometry within the design will have extraordinary healing powers. To fully understand what a mandala is and how it can heal the mind, body, and soul let’s define what a mandala is. According to Wikipedia, a mandala is defined as a diagram, chart, design or geometric pattern that represents the universe/cosmos either metaphysically or symbolically. In Sanskrit, the word mandala translates as “from the essence” or “magic circle.”
WHAT IS SACRED GEOMETRY?
SACRED GEOMETRY ART
Sacred geometry is vibrational energy that manifests as geometric shapes, forms and patterns. We often see these sacred geometric forms in nature. From the smallest atoms to the grand designs of the cosmos we can witness the mathematical magic and blueprint of creation. So, what kind of geometric shapes are used in sacred geometry mandala art? Let’s take a closer look!
THE HEALING POWERS OF MANDALAS AND SACRED GEOMETRY
Mandalas utilize various sacred geometric symbols however most mandalas start off using a simple circle as the base shape. The circle itself embodies healing powers as it represents harmony, unity, wholeness, timelessness and the infinite. As you begin layering and interlocking more circles with each other, new sacred shapes begin to take shape. For example, interlocking just 2 circles together will create the sacred geometric shape known as the vesica piscis.

VESICA PISCIS SYMBOL MEANING AND THE EVOLUTION OF ITS SHAPE
In Latin, Vesica Piscis literally means “bladder of the fish.” It is the formation of two perfect circles of equal sizes that come together in perfect balance. This shape represents many things. For example it is often associated with concepts: light and dark, male and female, twin flames, and our connection to the source of life. A beautiful quote that comes to mind is “God is a circle whose center is everywhere and whose circumference is nowhere.” by Hermes Trismegistus.
FLOWER OF LIFE SACRED GEOMETRY PATTERN
This geometrical “flower of life” pattern is based on the principle of the vesica piscis. It appears on temples, burial grounds, and sacred sites all over the earth. This Flower of Life pattern is also known as the creation pattern. It contains all of the building blocks of creation within its geometric blueprint.
It depicts how all life is birthed from one omnipotent source. This is represented by the circle in the very center of the pattern. Leonardo Da Vinci has several artworks that utilize the flower of life pattern. Years of studying these sacred geometric shapes has lead me to believe that all life is connected to this one singular source.
SRI YANTRA MANDALA, MEANING aND BENEFITS
The Sri Yantra is a mystical diagram that is known as the “queen of yantras”. It is used in the Shri Vidya school of Hindu tantra. Composed of 9 triangles that overlap each other, it is a very powerful symbol for meditation. In the very center, there is a singular point called a bindu.
The bindu is a sacred representation of the cosmic center. It is also the symbol and source of all energy, power, and creativity. I find the sri yantra to be a very powerful symbol and I have even used it in the creation of my artwork “Fountain of Boundless Love”.
METATRON'S CUBE AND THE SPIRITUAL SIGNIFIGANCE
Metatron’s Cube starts with the shape “Fruit of Life” (13 circles) and connects all circles with straight lines. It’s named after Metatron, an Archangel that watches over the flow of energy in creation. He also provides a sacred connection to the divinity within. Metatron’s cube is known for it ability to flood and infuse our being with positive thoughts.
It can also remove toxic and negative thoughts. This design also reminds us that the universe is always on our side. The universe wants nothing but the best for us! I have yet to integrate this design into any of my artworks, however I’m sure I will travel down that path eventually.
SEED OF LIFE AND ITS SACRED SEVEN RELATIONSHIP
Many also believe these circles represent each of our 7 chakras, the 7 colors of the rainbow and even musical scales. The magical nature of the seed of life cannot be put into words. It is the basis for how we understand universal truths and the infinite nature of creation.
MANDALA WALL ART FOR MEDITATION, GROWTH AND TRANSFORMATION
MANDALA WALL ART
Introducing mandala wall art into your home or sacred space is yet another wonderful way to transform your space. If your space is feeling stale, consider integrating sacred mandala wall art for the re-energizing of your sacred space! Studying the beauty and dynamics of form and function has given me great insight into the creation of mandalas. In my 10+ years of mandala creation they have taught me so much about life and the underlying mathematics of creation.
Their ability to continually amaze me never fails. A new pattern or design will reveal itself in the most extraordinary of ways. I find the process of creating mandalas to be very therapeutic, expressive, and fun. If I was to count the number of mandalas I have created over the years, I’m sure it would be in the thousands. Offering my most unique, authentic and heartfelt creations is incredibly important to me and that is why I only offer my very best mandala artworks.
OM MANDALA "OM MANI PADME HUM"
OM MANDALA - "OM MANI PADME HUM"
This om mandala is an expression of the mantra “Om mani padme hum”. Om mandalas vibrate with immense power and beauty. The word om is also spelled Aum and it is the most sacred symbol and mantra of Brahman. The Om sound is one of the most spiritual sounds in Hinduism and Brahman is the almighty God in Hinduism. The word Mani translates as jewel or bead. Padme means “lotus flower” and Hum means “spirit of enlightenment.” I wanted to create an Om mandala that encapsulates the totality of all meanings and that is why I called this mandala “Om Mani Padme Hum”.
COLORFUL MANDALA ART THAT INSPIRES US TO SHINE - PURPLE, GOLD, RED aND BLUE MANDALAS
Colorful mandalas exude the creative energy of life itself and they inspire us to live colorful lives. Whether its a purple mandala, gold mandala, red mandala or blue mandala, we absorb the energies of those beautiful colors. Purple can be a very healing color as it is associated with magic, mystery, wisdom, vision, creativity, and peacefulness.
GOLD MANDALA AND ITS POWER OF INFLUENCE
The gold mandala is a beautiful expression of inner riches. I personally find the color gold to be one of purples most attractive compliments. Gold is one of my favorite colors and is often associated with passion, compassion, enlightenment, courage, prosperity, and victory. Many of my artworks are gold, not just the mandalas. For example, I have two buddha artworks that are all gold. One is called “Alchemy of the Heart” and the other is titled “Kundalini Awakening”.
RED MANDALA INSPIRES US TO BE POWERFUL
The red mandala is a very powerful as it gives us energy and inspires us to claim our power. Red is a very intruiging color that effects us all in different ways. For some, looking into the color red makes them feel loving, excited and powerful. Red evokes many feelings and is commonly associated with passion, love, romance and fun. On the opposite end of the spectrum, too much red can cause one too be angry and irritated. When surrounding yourself with various colors, a good balance of each color will do wonders.
