The story of how this art poster came to manifest is actually quite interesting. When I first saw the contest on creative allies. I was a little hesitant to enter as I know there is a certain amount of time and energy needed to create a mindblowing poster ..especially a Bassnectar NYE Poster for that matter. Not to mention my computer had recently caught the black screen of death and was in the shop getting repaired. But being such a big fan/believer of Lorin's music I still felt a strong pull to enter and to create what I was envisioning. My voice of reason tells me.. you love Bassnectar's music..you love creating art.. all you have to do is merge your love for the two and BAM! You'll have nectar! I remembered coming across a timeless photograph with the perfect framework and composition by Joshua Brott that totally resonated with the theme/contest requirements for example, beginnings and endings, timelessness, personal change and looking back through time on a new/transformed self. After getting my computer back and getting the photographers (Joshua Brott) permission I began the search for an elegant yet wicked typeface that would really make it sing and bring it all home. Sure enough I ended up stumbling upon this gorgeous typeface by font designer Hydro74.. how awesome and crazy! Enthusiasm and excitement are through the roof( like how you feel at one of Lorins shows). Beautiful synchronicities and collaborations coming from all angles that are completely falling into place. Moral of the story? Follow your bliss and let it lead you into places you never thought possible. And always believe you can create whatever your heart desires.
