The story of how this poster came to manifest is actually quite interesting. When I first saw the contest on creativeallies.com I was a little hesitant to enter as I know there is a certain amount of time and energy needed to create a mindblowing poster ..especially for Bassnectar on New Years Eve for that matter. Not to mention my computer had recently caught the black screen of death and was being repaired by apple. But being such a big fan/believer of Lorin’s music I still felt compelled to enter. I remembered coming across a photograph by Joshua Brott that I also felt was quite timeless and spoke towards the “New Year” theme/contest requirements; for example, beginnings and endings, the passing of time, personal change or looking back through time on a different self.

My voice of reason tells me.. you love Bassnectars music..you love creating art.. all you have to do is merge your love for the two and presto! You have nectar! So, I get my computer back, get the photographers permission, put on my bassface and initiate the creative flow of all that is bass nectar All is very synchronistic when I stumble upon a beautiful typeface by designer Hydro74! This is getting crazy! Woohoo! A collaboration I never saw coming that completely fell into place. Moral of the story – Always believe in yourself and know that if you put all of your heart into it you never truly lose. While on Facebook, immersed in the many stories, photos, and lives of my “friends“, I coincidentally stumbled upon the alluring artwork of Jalai Lama.

As I fixated my gaze onto his art piece called “Kundalini”, my eyes were bathed in this radiant, golden energy that selflessly seeped into my mind, body and spirit, transcending my vibration beyond space and time into a new state of cosmic consciousness. I was the universe, and the universe was in me, brilliantly illuminating unconditional love.

Jalai Lama’s art had such profound effect on me, because as an energy healer, I am constantly trying to find new ways to explain a seemingly unexplainable energy to prospective clients, family, and friends. For the first time, an explanation was finally tangible through the artwork of Jalai Lama, this was a huge breakthrough for me!

Jalai Lama is an artist based out of Atlanta, Georgia, who after many years of studying the work of legendary art masters and the effects of art on our emotional state of consciousness, Jalai Lama has created a new form of art which he calls “abstract emotionalism“. Some of his artwork may be compared to a modern version of the ancient mandalas. Mandala translated from Sanskrit means circle-circumference or completion. Mandalas are used in many cultures as spiritual tools to symbolize the universe or to aid in meditation. David Fontana, a professor of Transpersonal Psychology, a form of psychology that studies the spiritual aspects of the human experience, says “Mandalas are used to access progressively deeper levels of the unconscious, ultimately assisting the meditator to experience a mystical sense of oneness with the ultimate unity from which the cosmos in all its manifold forms arises.”*

Jalai Lama is not just an artist, but an advocate for a peaceful humanity. Jalai Lama considers himself “A student of life and the arts, on a quest to inspire positive change on an individual, global and universal scale”. Jalai Lama believes that “It is our instinctual human nature to overcome and survive the hardships we face everyday. We should start to realize our own potential today, and empower people we know! We all need each other in order to learn, grow and change. Your personal karma and good energy is essential to our survival. Pave the way.…”. In my opinion, Jalai Lama’s artwork acts as a bridge to the divine that each and every one of us holds within.
